If you love Mexican Food, Cabo San Lucas is the perfect travel destination for Mexican food lovers. Today, I am going to share the best places to eat in Cabo, so if you are reading on an empty stomach, beware, this post may cause severe hunger!

The Best Tacos In Cabo – Gus’s Tacos 

First of all, let me say. Not tacos are equal. I tried several taco joints in Cabo and Gus’s Tacos was hands down the best! I dream of flying to Cabo sometimes, just to get a taco… and a margarita or two. Lol.

When I first arrived in Cabo, I was famished and on the verge of hangry after a day of traveling.  Luckily, Gus’s tacos was only a block away from my Airbnb so it was my first foodie stop.

While waiting for my tacos, I snacked on veggies that were generously laid out in a huge complimentary platter including guacamole! I’d just like to say to Gus’s – “You had me at Guacamole!”

I was already impressed.

When the tacos came out, the meat was stacked on my $2 tacos and I couldn’t believe the portions for the price. I lathered my taco with guacamole and took a bite of the succulent taco.

YUMMY!

The Al Pastor and chicken tacos were tender and juicy, cooked to perfection.  Al Pastor is a pork marinated with pineapple, spices and chilies.

Then, the pork is put on a spit with pineapple and onion on the top to roast on the rotisserie for hours. The pineapple juices drip on the meat as it cooks on the rotisserie.

Here is a peek at the menu. The prices are super affordable and they have other options besides tacos if you want to try something different.

Update and Warning: On my last visit to Gus Tacos in 2020, I had some issues with my bill and was charged for some things I didn’t ask for. I will think the best that it was an accident, but just in case, I’d like to let you know to check your bill.  You can only be charged the prices posted publicly on their menu so if you see any differences, let them know. Ask them to leave the bill so you can review and not feel pressured to pay until you have. They write down the bill, its not electronic fyi. 

Best meal and overall restaurant experience in Cabo – Los Tres Gallos

Let’s get right into what makes this place so great. The mole dishes are sensational! Something you have to try.  Los Tres Gallos is set in a romantically lit open-air courtyard which invites you to sit and indulge in the tastes of Mexico while live musicians sing and play music.

As you walk in, you will see baskets of chilis and spices that are used to prepare moles, salsas and many flavorful dishes.

The first impression is that this place looks pretty fancy and you may wonder if the prices are pretty fancy too. Luckily, this is one of the places in Cabo where you can get a fantastic meal in a beautiful setting, yet without the outrageous prices. It is reasonably priced.

Two dishes I recommend is the Mole Enchiladas and Chicken Mole dinner.  The mole is packed with rich flavors created from a combination of chocolate and chilies.  The chile balances perfectly with the slight sweetness of the chocolate. I really think this is a meal that could satisfy even picky eaters. It is hard to go wrong with this dish.

Best Margarita and Budget Lobster Dinner Deal

Although unassuming from the outside, Restaurant El Pescador unexpectedly surprised me with their Margaritas.  It was the best Margarita I had in Cabo and I admit I tried quite a lot of them! The lobster tail dinner was a great deal under $16.  It comes with options of side dishes with your meal.  Although I was not too impressed with the white fish that I ordered as a side, all else was good.

Bonus Pick! Fun Bar In Cabo – UNOMAS

With so many good bars in Cabo, why choose Unomas? The bartenders are fun and by observing them at the bar, I noticed they know many of the customers by first name. As people were served at the bar, it was like they were meeting as close friends.

It is an overall fun place to be and grab drinks in downtown Cabo.
