I took my first visit to Texas this Thanksgiving weekend and I got a chance to spend some time in San Antonio and Austin. I only had a half day in San Antonio since most of my time was spend in Austin. The two cities are only an hour and a half away from each other.

The San Antonio River Walk is one of San Antonio’s main attractions and during the holidays, the Riverwalk is festively decorated with Christmas lights almost everywhere! I took an evening stroll beside the river listening to Mariachi bands play in front of Tex – Mex restaurants while walking under adorned Christmas lit trees.

Boat tours run frequently along the river and it is a fun way to explore the river front. You will also learn some history and facts about San Antonio along the tour. The admission is only $10 for adults so I couldn’t pass it up!

After the boat tour, I decided to eat dinner along the river at a Italian Restaurant called Paesanos. There are many Tex-Mex restaurants in the area also, but I eat a lot of Mexican Food in California so I opted to try something a bit different. The Spaghetti and the Tortelini with Pesto Cream Sauce were both very good and I was happy with my restaurant choice. It is hard to choose out of so many places on the Riverwalk!

If visiting San Antonio, the River Walk is a must see. If you would like to see more, there is a video clip below of some of the boat tour.
